Over 85 APPFA members gathered in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, California in October for the fall conference hosted by the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS). Among the wide-ranging topics were:
The featured speaker was Norman Marks, an author and frequent contributor to the IIA, who shared some iconoclastic thoughts about how to conduct audits that matter through real life risk management.
Attendees had a chance to socialize over dinner at TASTE at The Loft, an American tapas restaurant, in Heavenly Village. Other activities enjoyed by attendees and their guests included Tahoe’s top rated show, Magic Fusion; boat rides on Lake Tahoe; hikes and drives around the lake; and Halloween Costume competitions at local casinos. (Further details this and other past presentations are under “Past Conferences”.)
The APPFA Board thanks our hosts and conference planning and coordination team that did a great job planning and overseeing the conference activities!
